NDUGA - The Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, one of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command (KOOPS TNI) in Papua, is currently conducting the mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency area, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Friday, 26 July 2024, the 503 Task Forces, especially the Batas Batu Post led by First Lieutenant Galih Widiharyo Nugroho, demonstrated its creativity in helping the people overcome their difficulties.
In his emphasis on the TNI Soldiers, the Commander of 503 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, conveyed the importance of the Task Forces' attention to the basic necessities of the community around the Post. A Congregation of Catholics Nun is located near the Batas Batu Post. This Congregation is a gathering place for Catholic Monks, Nuns, Clergymen, or Religious Men.
Once, 1LT Galih communicated with several Congregation personnel, and one of the Nuns named Florida Murib conveyed a need for the Congregation. The need was chair for them to gather in one of the Congregation areas. It didn't take long to respond, 1LT Galih immediately approved the request.
It only took 2 days since Wednesday (24/7), and the Soldiers fulfilled the needs of the Congregation. Eventually, 3 long chairs were finished being made by the Soldiers using materials available in the environment around the Post. Seeing her wishes came true, Sister Florida said, "Thank you, Bapak TNI (Soldier), we have been made chairs. We are very happy. God bless TNI".
After receiving the activity report, the KOOPS TNI Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, said, "The initiative of the 503 Task Forces to conduct Social Communication with the Congregation of Catholics Nun in Mumugu, is the TNI's implementation of conducting inclusive Social Communication with all stakeholders in the Task Area, to support acceleration development in the Papua region.”
